Fernanda Olivares
(1990, Mexico City)
Visual artist, painter, and dancer. A graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda,” Olivares furthered her education in New York and Florence. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Dance Research at the Centro de Investigación en Danza (CENIDID José Limón). Her interdisciplinary practice bridges art, science, and technology, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence as theoretical paradigm and practice. She has collaborated on art and science projects with ITMO University (Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics) in St. Petersburg, Russia, and has been an artist-in-residence at Art House Holland in the Netherlands and the St. Petersburg Art Residency.
Olivares’ work is held in public and private collections across Mexico, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Italy. In 2023, she was invited to speak at TEDx Boston, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as part of a pioneering cohort exploring hybrid practices in artificial intelligence. She is the co-director and co-founder of BILIA 2022 (Bienal Latinoamericana de Inteligencia Artificial) and has served as director of the Fundación Arte y Mundo Sostenible since 2018.
Her practice reflects a deep engagement with the intersections of movement, visual art, and emerging technologies, positioning her as a leading voice in the evolving dialogue between art, science, and sustainability.
